Challenge
A large city in the state of California procured a number of Level 2 and DC fast chargers. They needed help installing them in multiple locations. The city is a member of a group purchasing organization (GPO), which only contracts with premier vendors, suppliers and partners to help ensure quality and efficiencies across projects.
Solution
As a member of the GPO, Wesco Energy Solutions was engaged to help identify qualified contractors and map out a project plan. Level 2 and DC level 3 chargers require increased electrical capacity, so our team worked closely with the utility company to understand the electrical needs for each of the installation locations to account for the increased capacity needed. Wesco coordinated work with a network of installers to complete the installation of chargers across the city in a timely manner. To meet proper installation and code requirements the project included: trenching, cable management, all electrical conduit and infrastructure as well as heavy-duty safety bollard installation.
